I developed a desire to work with glass in 1982 after completing my Nursing degree at the University of Texas in Arlington. I did simple stained glass for my own pleasure until 1984 when I had my daughter Haley. I was working as a full time Registered Nurse, mother and wife. So for the next 15 years, I put my glasswork on hold.
In 1999 I became interested in mosaic glass after buying a mosaic bench at a local gallery. I became inspired once again with the beauty of glass and began doing mosaics. In the interim of visiting galleries; I came across a "new form" of glass known as glass fusion. I knew immediately that this was what I wanted to do. I attended a one day basic fusing class and acquired all the books I could find on the subject. I purchased my first kiln and began to experiment in January of 2000. Large wall sculptures are my specialty. I use bright, bold, and contrasting colors in my work. I generally do not work with a plan or pattern. Spontaneity dictates my philosophy, which is "just do it"! Each wall sculpture requires a steel frame due to the size and weight. My husband Ron of 25 years, has mastered this task for me. He had no previous welding experience and has become quite a metalsmith.
Glass has become my true passion and has been a major part of my life for the past 9 years. I hope you enjoy my work.
